Week 9
Week 9 Oct 7, 2024
What's up everybody! The milk still comes in a box or bag, so with that,t let's start the highlights:
-First off, shout out to Price Utah for getting a temple out there
-I taught my first very rough and very not well understood lesson but hey, it's out of the way now
-I got to watch conference in English, thank goodness
-I would like to officially announce that I am no longer bad at cooking
OK, so we were walking to one of our friend's houses and on the way there we passed by one of the recent converts' houses and we decided to teach him a quick lesson. As we're walking up, Elder Baldwin just looks at me and says you got this one. So I was like ahh ok. I got this. So we sit down and I kinda just say like what's up, how are you. Then I taught him the first scripture that came to mind, Mosiah 2:17. So as I'm teaching him, it feels so weird to be talking in Spanish so I started laughing at one point but it was really dark so I don't think he saw. I've started chipping in more and more during lessons. It's still very rough and there's been a few times that I'll try to say something and they won't understand me and just look at Elder Baldwin and then he'll talk to them and clear things up.
Conference was lit! I'm actually so glad that I got to watch it in English because I do not understand enough Spanish to get anything out of it. I loved hearing all our awesome apostles and our lit prophet talk. My favorite phrase was from Brad Wilcox's talk when he said something along the lines of "Jesus is already reaching out to you, you just have to reach out to him." And now that I'm typing that out, it does not sound as cool as it did during conference,e but when all the talks are available, I'm sure it'll be a banger again
I realized I haven't been talking a lot about our friends that we've been teaching so I'm gonna give you guys a quick run down of what's been happening. So one family that we were teaching moved out of our area without telling us and so yeah their gone. And then another family that we've been teaching got divorced and they're moving too so that was cool. Then another family that we were teaching didn't in fact live at the house we were teaching them at so we passed them to the Hermanas that live in the area right next to ours. So yeah few days have kinda been full of walking around, talking to members to try and find new people to teach. We'll be good tho, don't worry. Oh yea,h there's also this little girl that's like 4 years old that gets so excited every time we walk by her house, and she always seems to be outside for some reason, and she always asks, when are you gonna come teach us again. She's so funny and when she talks, she talks so fast and she can't understand why I don't know how to respond to her when she asks a question. So she'll be talking to me and I'll say like 'Sì' or yeah and then she'll get confused and go to talk to my comp but it's hilarious
One more really funny and awkward story that happened this week. So we pull up to a member's house and she's like, yeah come in, come in. So we go in and she starts talking to me really seriously for like a solid minute. Then she realizes I can't understand her so she tells Elder Baldwin to translate what she said, and he says that she told us that she joined Jehovah's Witnesses and she wants us to leave right now. So I'm just like oh shoot we should probably go because she is dead serious, but Elder Baldwin isn't moving and she's just staring at me and I have never felt more awkward in my life. Then they both start laughing and Elder Baldwin said that she was joking. I was so scared but she was the chillest older lady I've ever talked to and I couldn't even understand her.
Spiritual experience:
I don't have one experience that i want to talk about but several. I want to talk about the experiences that I've had almost every day. So there's been so many times that we'll either get rejected by someone, or maybe just walking down the street when I'll just be filled with the spirit. So I just wanted to say that being a missionary, I can definitely feel every prayer and every thought for people praying for the missionaries,s and it has been so awesome
Anyway, that's all I got for this week. I love you all and I'll be back next week
