Week 12
Week 12 October 28, 2024
Let me know if I beat you. Also, if you don't know why that's the caption of this week's email, refer to last week's email. Here's this week's highlights tho:
-First baptism!!
-I finally had a dream in Spanish, I don't even remember it, I just remember that it was all in Spanish.
-I've heard from quite a few Elders that this is the prettiest, or the best members, or the best whatever that they've ever had in their mission so I'm worried that the only way to go is down from here and I'm only one transfer in
-Oh yeah, that's one more thing, I am basically officially one transfer down in the field, which is so crazy. My uncle pointed out to me that I'm already almost an 8th of the way through my entire mission,n and that is so crazy
-We've had 3 cockroaches in our apartment this week

OK so I had my first baptism on Saturday! His name is Aldo and he is so funny. He's 11 years old and we started teaching him about a month ago. We go to his house every morning, and his older brother puts us through a workout so we get to see him basically twice a day every day for the last little bit. We've had so much fun teaching them.
OK I'm gonna tell you guys about some of the people that we're teaching rn.
First, we got Dylan. He's 12 years old, I think and he is so chill. We've been going to his house almost every day, and on Saturday we asked him if he would want to be baptized and he was just like, yeah sure. We were like, dude let's go, what day sounds good? He was like, any day works. Let's go dude, he's so chill. Also, his younger sister's name is Tessa and she's like 4 years old and she has so much energy it's awesome. Every time we walk by (she's always outside playing or doing something) she'll see us coming and scream 'ELDERS' and run out the gate and say hi or give us a hug. She is the only girl that I'm okay with giving me a hug on the mission.
Francisco. Dude Francisco is another dude that is so cool. He's probably around 30 years old and has so many questions about the gospel. However, it makes it kinda hard to have a shorter lesson with him because of all his questions so our last 2 or 3 lessons have been like an hour plus, but it's all good. He's been reading in the Book of Mormon tho so that is so awesome.
OK, I also want to tell you guys about my area. So I'm like right next to Paraguay right now. Like I've run to the river that separates us from Paraguay in like 20 minutes. I think that's why there are so many trees here. It makes it so pretty here tho. And that's the other thing. My comp, and the 2 other Elders in my district have said so many things that have been the best they've ever seen on their mission. Like 'bro this is the prettiest area in the whole mission', or 'That was the coolest zone conference I've ever been to' or 'This is the most comfortable bed I've ever felt' or 'I've never had food this good on my mish yet.' So yeah, I'm kinda worried that this is the best it gets, which would be fine but I think not understanding anything puts a damper on everything that I do. It's so freaking pretty here tho so I'm not complaining.
I've been slowly but steadily improving my Spanish. I feel bad that everyone we talk to has to speak Spanish to us, tho so that I can learn it, then they get to go back to speaking English when I leave. They're nice for that tho.
Spiritual thought:
OK, so I'm in Alma right now in my personal reading of the Book of Mormon and HOLY COW, guys, the Book of Mormon is so insane. It is so crazy how good this book is. I've been reading Alma's advice to his sons right now and I really like Alma 36:3 which says "That whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day." I've been trying to put my trust in God more this week and it's so amazing how much more peace you feel when you do that. Guys, the more I learn about the BOM the more I realize how true it is and the more I'm just like, holy cow this is so awesome. I've read it a few times before the mission, but I swear I'm learning something new every time I read it. It's crazy
Alright, that's all I get for this week. I'm 76% sure that I've been a missionary my whole life and everything before the mission was just fake because all of that was so long ago. Anyway, I'll talk to y'all next week

-Elder Larson
